The 5 Best Psychiatrists in El Paso for Compassionate Mental Health Care

psychiatrists-in-el-paso
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Provider Qualifications: We looked at the medical background and board certifications of each practitioner to confirm strong clinical expertise. It matters that patients get care from highly trained professionals who understand complex mental health conditions.

Accessibility and Scheduling: We checked how quickly new patients can book and how flexible the weekly hours are. Fast scheduling and easy-to-reach offices are key for anyone seeking timely support.

Insurance and Pricing Transparency: We reviewed the range of accepted insurance plans and how clear each provider is about upfront costs. Financial predictability helps families plan their expenses without bracing for surprise bills.

Treatment Variety: We looked at the available services, from modern diagnostic tools to advanced therapy options. A range of evidence-based choices means care can be tailored to each patient's needs.

Working through mental health challenges can feel overwhelming, whether you’re dealing with constant anxiety or trying to help a family member find proper care. It’s a deeply personal journey, but the right professional support makes all the difference.

Some people find their footing with local psychologists, while others lean on experienced psychotherapists. A psychiatrist, though, brings the medical evaluation and medication management that more complex conditions often need.

When looking for the best psychiatrist in El Paso, you want someone who truly listens and offers thoughtful, compassionate medical guidance. Below, I round up the top psychiatric care options in town to help you make a confident choice.

How much does it cost to see a psychiatrist in El Paso?

Seeing a psychiatrist in El Paso typically costs $250 to $400 for an initial consultation without insurance. Follow-up sessions run $150 to $250, and in-network copays drop to around $20 to $60.

Service TypeEstimated Cost Range

1. Dr. Roberto Flores, MD – Psychiatry

Website: https://drflorespsych.com/

Address: 124 W. Castellano Dr, Suite 105

Contact: (915) 259-8509 | (915) 808-6590 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

If you value real continuity of care, this private practice makes sure you always meet directly with Dr. Roberto Flores instead of getting handed off to mid-level assistants.

He leans on advanced tools like quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) brain mapping and pharmacogenetic testing to build a complete picture of your wellness.

That kind of focused attention means you get a highly tailored plan from a bilingual expert who understands the local border culture. I like that the whole experience feels personal rather than rushed.

The trade-off with this personalized model is that it runs as a solo practice, so there’s no on-site backup doctor if an urgent schedule change pops up. The shared parking lot at the professional complex can also be a gamble during the busiest times of day.

Pros

  • Guaranteed direct sessions with the physician
  • Completely bilingual and bicultural care
  • Accepts a large insurance network
  • Advanced diagnostic tools like brain mapping

Cons

  • Solo provider scheduling limitations
  • Shared parking constraints at the complex

By far the best one

I’ve been going around to different psychiatrists, including telehealth, and he is by far the best one. The receptionist was so sweet and helpful. I was able to schedule an appointment the next day, got there without trouble, and waited less than 5 minutes to be seen. All paperwork was done prior to the appointment and they checked my insurance ahead of time. The appointment was thorough and stress-free, and he helped address all my concerns. I can’t recommend them enough!

Easy to feel heard

I highly recommend Dr. Flores. From the very first interaction, he was professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in understanding my concerns. He creates a calm and respectful environment where it’s easy to feel heard. His approach is thoughtful and well-balanced, and it’s clear he truly cares about his patients. I’m very glad to have found his practice.

Website: https://haracechealth.com/

Address: 1700 Curie Dr., Ste. 2100

Contact: (915) 200-1144

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

If you want a multi-faceted approach to diagnostics, Haracec Complete Healthcare runs comprehensive exams that cover both physical and genetic components at the same time.

They focus on collaborative medication management and offer advanced choices like transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy and Spravato for treatment-resistant depression.

When I called their office to ask about their integrated primary care services, the staff walked me through how easily they bridge the gap between physical and mental health.

The clinic is led by Dr. Uga, a psychiatrist with decades of experience, and the team treats children, teenagers, and older adults alike.

Just keep in mind that this is strictly an outpatient facility, so they can’t handle overnight stays or immediate crisis stabilization.

Their hours also stick to standard weekday business times, which can make visits tricky for busy professionals who would rather not take time off work.

Pros

  • Led by a psychiatrist with decades of experience
  • Treats children, teenagers, and older adults
  • Offers advanced interventional therapy treatments
  • Integrated physical and mental health care

Cons

  • Outpatient facility with no inpatient crisis beds
  • Restricted to standard weekday business hours

Went over and beyond

I highly recommend Dr. Uga to anyone seeking a psychiatrist. Dr. Uga and his wife have gone over and beyond for my loved one. Including his team, they listen to your concerns, are very understanding, and are great with communication when times are difficult. Great with returning calls, offers other opinions if needed, and the office staff are very attentive and professional. Dr. Uga is by far the best psychiatrist I have met. I would give ten stars if I could. Thank you Dr. Uga and staff for all that you do.

My family member felt heard

Professional, informed, attentive, and a real bedside manner. My family member felt heard and not judged. He was not rushed like he had felt at other provider offices. We left the office with a plan and feeling more hopeful than we have felt in a long time. Thank you Dr. Uga.

3. TeleMind

telemind

Website: https://telemind.com/

Address: 1401 Montana Ave, Suite B9

Contact: (800) 950-0026

Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

For anyone who needs help without the usual months of waiting, this service offers a fast booking window that often secures appointments within 24 hours.

The TeleMind video office setup lets you complete secure telehealth visits from your own couch or inside their physical local office rooms.

You’re also guaranteed to see the exact same provider every time, which helps build real trust during ongoing medication management. I appreciate how that consistency takes some of the stress out of long-term care.

That said, if you prefer traditional, face-to-face evaluations, the permanent video setup might feel a bit detached since the doctor is always streamed remotely.

Some patients have also noted that reaching the front desk by phone for quick billing questions can be a hurdle.

Pros

  • Physical office location available right in town
  • Appointments typically scheduled within 24 hours
  • Accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance
  • Consistent provider assignments for long-term care

Cons

  • No traditional face-to-face doctor contact
  • Occasional administrative communication bottlenecks

Great patient care

Address: 10555 Vista Del Sol Dr, Ste 120

Contact: (915) 301-8292 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Managing your care gets a lot easier with a true hybrid system that lets you switch smoothly between physical clinic visits and convenient online appointments.

PsychPlus El Paso Clinic uses a proprietary mobile app for self-scheduling. A close friend of mine who uses their preferred partner membership mentioned that they easily skipped the usual local waitlists and got an appointment the next day.

That kind of speed can be a real relief when you are anxious to start treatment.

Treatment-wise, they provide on-site treatments like Spravato alongside intensive outpatient programs.

One thing to note is that their physical clinic is closed on weekends, so weekday scheduling is a must.

Also, if your treatment plan involves controlled substances, you can’t stick purely to virtual visits, since the clinic requires a face-to-face evaluation at least once a year.

Pros

  • Easy transition between virtual and office care
  • Specialized treatments like Spravato are available on-site
  • Mobile app for tracking prescriptions and appointments
  • Faster scheduling through partner memberships

Cons

  • Closed completely on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Mandatory annual in-person visit for prescriptions

Website: http://www.thehillspsychiatry.com/

Address: 1445 Bessemer Drive, Suite E

Contact: (915) 540-6673 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Families looking for care across all generations will appreciate Dr. Tolulope Shada, who brings extensive local clinical experience as both an adult and youth psychiatrist.

The practice runs on a strict commitment to transparent pricing and offers flexible financing, so you’re less likely to face unexpected medical bills.

The Hills Psychiatry, PLLC is also preparing to launch advanced options like non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and structured youth programs to expand their local services.

I value that they’re upfront about what is available now versus what is on the way.

However, you can’t access TMS therapy here just yet because those interventional programs are still listed as coming soon. The office also sits inside a car-dependent corporate park that can feel a bit confusing to navigate on a first visit.

Pros

  • Psychiatrist treats children, teens, and adults
  • Clear and transparent upfront pricing
  • Strong local training ties to Texas Tech
  • Financing options available through CareCredit

Cons

  • Specialized TMS and youth programs coming soon
  • Gated office park can be confusing to navigate

She made me feel heard

Dr. Shada made me feel heard. She’s very professional and kind, and you can sense she genuinely cares about her patients. I’ve only had 2 visits so far and this is the best I’ve felt in many years. The wait was a little long, but it’s very well worth it. Dr. Shada took her time on both of my visits, and I was able to explain everything to her. I am very happy with her care.
