1. Go West Sliders

go-west-sliders

Finding top-tier athletic coaching is simple if you visit the expansive training grounds located on Westside Drive.

This beautiful estate is home to Go West Sliders, an arena offering exceptional horse-riding lessons that El Paso competitors use to perfect their skills under the guidance of former champions.

As for the approach here, it covers a wide variety of needs. The instructors focus on everything from foundational basics to advanced competitive techniques across their spacious riding trails.

On top of that, they run specialized summer camps that are perfect for sharpening skills during the school break.

However, the program leans heavily toward American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) competition events. If you want to focus entirely on English riding disciplines, this specific Western focus might not suit your long-term goals.

Pros

  • Former champion trainers
  • Expansive training grounds
  • Dedicated riding trails
  • Specialized summer camps

Cons

  • Heavy Western competition focus

We had a great time

I was looking for something to do with our teenage/young adult grandsons over the Thanksgiving holiday.  I checked with this place to see if they were open the day after Thanksgiving; they were.  Four of us went on their trail ride and had a wonderful time (one had never been on a horse and all others were novices).  The guide was knowledgeable, kind, and protective.  We had a great time without incident!  I highly recommend this place.

I can truly say I would not be the caliber of rider I am today without the coaching of Todd Marler. He took the raw talent I had from riding on the ranch to the  finesse to show at a world show. I have had great success in showing since I started Marlers. They help you set and achieve goals. They prep you to enter the ring, cheer for you while you are showing, and when the show is over helps you improve to get better for the next one. I honestly couldn’t recommend a better place.

2. Horses Unlimited Rescue and Education Center Inc.

horses-unlimited-rescue-and-education-center-inc

Founded in 2011 by Victoria Davis, Horses Unlimited Rescue and Education Center shines for its highly affordable instruction inside the 80-by-100-foot training arena.

Students learn full horsemanship skills, including how to groom and saddle their mounts safely. Dedicated students even get to join a fun barrel racing team after a year of training.

Plus, supporting a wonderful charitable cause while learning to ride is incredibly easy at this local non-profit ranch.

I spoke with a parent whose teenager takes lessons here, and they love how their fees directly fund a no-kill sanctuary for rescued animals.

But you need to keep their strict cancellation policy in mind, since they charge half the lesson price for any unexpected no-show instances.

Pros

  • Highly affordable lessons
  • Supports a no-kill sanctuary
  • Large training arena
  • Barrel racing opportunities

Cons

  • Strict cancellation policy
  • Penalty fee for no-shows

Very affordable

My four girls (ages 11-4) loved their first lessons! The owner and her daughter were quiet and competent and very understanding. It felt good to support their horse rescue efforts and get my girls started with horses at the same time. It was very affordable and I can’t wait to go back.

3. Marler Performance Horses

marler-performance-horses

Aspiring competitors can easily elevate their skills by training with highly decorated professionals who hold multiple world championship titles.

Led by Todd Marler and his son Taylen Marler, Marler Performance Horses delivers specialized coaching focused on reining and ranch riding events.

They operate out of two adjacent facilities to keep public lessons separate from private boarding areas. They also offer comprehensive summer camps that include riding and horse husbandry.

These camps are just as refreshing as visiting the top swimming pools in El Paso during the summer. Just note that these camp programs are strictly limited to kids ages 3 to 13, so adults miss out on the camp setups.

Pros

  • World champion coaches
  • Two separate adjacent facilities
  • Specialized ranch coaching
  • Fun summer activities

Cons

  • Camps restricted to kids

4. Sunny Center LLC

Sunny Center is a unique facility that operates as a stimulation center and farm, providing tailored horseback riding lessons alongside therapeutic horsemanship programs.

The instructors bring over 20 years of experience to the arena, seamlessly blending educational services with daily farm activities.

If you or your children need a gentle, patient approach to equestrian sports, a therapeutic environment like this is often the best choice.

During my visit to Sunny Center LLC, I saw how their staff emphasizes immediate, one-on-one attention for every student.

The only major downside is that the heavy focus on early childhood stimulation means the barn is not structured for adults seeking competitive training.

Nonetheless, it remains an outstanding option for families seeking personalized care and foundational confidence.

Pros

  • Therapeutic horsemanship specialty
  • Personalized one-on-one attention
  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Integrated private school services

Cons

  • Focuses heavily on childhood care

Just outside the city, you’ll find KNJ Therapeutic Riding. This family-run stable in Canutillo that delivers equine-assisted instructional sessions tailored for individuals of all ages and abilities.

Their specialized program focuses closely on physical, emotional, and sensory development inside a peaceful, intimate setting.

This welcoming environment, where a rider can develop at their own pace, makes a massive difference, especially for families navigating unique sensory needs.

Plus, the certified coaches align all their sessions with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH) guidelines, which gives parents complete peace of mind during each horse-riding lesson.

The only real catch is that their curriculum centers primarily on therapeutic and emotional healing. Because of this, the barn isn’t a great fit for students seeking traditional competitive equestrian sports or advanced technical riding training.

Pros

  • Private and group lesson formats
  • Focuses on sensory and motor development
  • Aligned with PATH guidelines
  • Tailored instruction for special needs

Cons

  • Centered on therapeutic and emotional healing
  • Unsuitable for competitive sports training

Customer Reviews:

We will be coming back

I’ve only been taking my daughter here for two weeks now, and she is already loving it. All week she looks forward to her lesson. The ladies are so nice and welcoming, and I personally love how they come talk to me and ask how I am doing while she’s riding. They really get her out of her shell, and I enjoy hearing her and her instructor laughing from across the arena while she’s learning. Seeing how they work with the other children is also admirable. We will be coming back for as long as Mia enjoys it. 🫶🏼

Can’t wait to go back

Thank you KNJ therapeutic riding for a good time!

The Owner Noel was kind and helpful in my riding lesson. It has been 30 years since being on horse so I was a bit nervous. Also having two knee replacements I wasn’t sure I could even mount a horse.  She helped grow confidence and reminded why loved horses! It’s truly a wonderful passion. Can’t wait to go back for my next lesson.
