1. University Vision Centre – Westside Office

university-vision-centre-westside-office

Website: https://universityvisioncentre.com/west-el-paso-eye-doctor/

Address: 3800 N Mesa St Suite B-1

Contact: (915) 465-2494

Hours: Monday to Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Thursday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Saturday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (first two Saturdays of the month)

Dealing with complex visual discomfort requires a specialized approach that goes beyond reading letters on a wall chart.

At University Vision Centre, Dr. Gabriel Luna, O.D. (Doctor of Optometry), leads a bilingual team that delivers personalized care and advanced disease management for the entire family.

Here, they focus heavily on pinpointing specific issues, such as Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD), a condition in which the eyes struggle to align properly.

I appreciate that communicating complex medical details is much easier here because the staff explains everything clearly in both English and Spanish. Plus, you can comfortably browse their massive selection of over 1,200 frames after your checkup.

One major drawback to keep in mind is their limited weekend availability, as the Westside branch opens only on the first and second Saturday of the month.

Pros

  • Specialized diagnostic treatments for BVD
  • Fully bilingual English and Spanish staff
  • Massive eyewear selection with over 1,200 frames
  • Uses advanced disease detection technology

Cons

  • Highly limited Saturday scheduling
  • Westside branch closed most weekends

“Excellent professionalism”

Dr. Delgado was very caring and answered all my questions. She is the best I’ve ever seen as my eye doctor. Her staff was excellent in doing all the test and preparation for the doctor. She and Dr. Delgado were very precise and explained everything along the way. Thank you so much for your excellent professionalism. The front office was just as attentive. I am so glad you will be part of my eye care. I will recommend this practice to my friends.

“Very informative and professional”

Overall experience was very good. Warm welcoming as I entered the building. My eye exam went well but a bit better communication was needed while going through the various tests. I waited about half an hour to meet with the doctor but she was very informative and professional!

Address: 1300 Murchison Dr., Suite 140

Contact: (915) 630-6463

Managing a child’s health appointments can be stressful, so finding a welcoming clinic like Buena Vista Eye Care is incredibly helpful for anxious young patients.

I like how this clinic combines routine exams with advanced surgical options, backed by 30 years of history serving the local community.

Plus, board-certified ophthalmologists handle everything from basic pediatric care to complex procedures, such as Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK).

They also specialize in complex restorative lens procedures and strabismus treatments right in the exact same building.

When I brought my nephew here for a pediatric checkup, the staff was wonderfully patient and made the whole process completely tear-free.

The only real catch is that Saturday availability is never guaranteed, so you always have to call ahead to see if the doctors are in.

Pros

  • Combines routine exams and surgical care
  • Established 30-year local community reputation
  • Treats complex conditions like keratoconus
  • Exceptional pediatric care environment

Cons

  • Unpredictable Saturday operating hours
  • Requires a phone call to confirm weekend availability

Website: https://eyeworldelpaso.com/

Address: 9513 Viscount Boulevard, Suite B

Contact: (915) 505-7125

Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Finding the right fit for specialized lenses often takes a high level of technical expertise and patience.

Led by Dr. Louis McMahon since 2002, Eye World leverages decades of optical knowledge to specialize heavily in complex contact lens fittings and keratoconus treatment.

I’m happy with how they make accessing care simple by welcoming walk-in patients without requiring a rigid, pre-booked appointment.

You can even customize your eyewear extensively with blue light filters, and they frequently run promotions offering big discounts on prescription sets.

While taking care of your vision is important, you might also be exploring other wellness needs, such as chiropractic care in El Paso or even Invisalign in El Paso for a straighter smile.

Just keep in mind that parking can be a bit tricky, since the clinic sits very close to busy dining and retail spots.

Pros

  • Accepts walk-in patients easily
  • Specializes in complex contact lens fittings
  • Extensive lens customization options available
  • Frequent discounts on complete prescription glasses

Cons

  • Parking lots get highly congested
  • Shared lot with busy local retail stores

“One of the best eye doctors…”

Dr. McMahon IS THE MAN!

He is one of the best eye doctors I’ve ever seen. He always takes great care of my eyes, gives me exactly what I need, and makes sure I feel safe and comfortable during every visit. He truly cares about what’s going on with his patients and their well-being — not just their eyes, but their overall health. I’m really grateful to have a doctor who pays such close attention and genuinely cares.

4. Southwest Eye Institute – Common Dr.

Address: 1400 Common Drive

Contact: 915-267-2020

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Navigating major ocular health procedures requires an experienced facility that can handle every step of the journey internally.

Southwest Eye Institute operates as a comprehensive care facility and integrated surgery center, featuring a multidisciplinary team of optometrists and medical doctors.

Under the guidance of specialists like cataract surgeon Dr. Marc Ellman, M.D., the clinic provides advanced treatments directly on-site.

The practice even handles highly complex conditions using specialized techniques like Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).

A close friend of mine recently had laser-assisted cataract removal done here, and they felt totally supported by the smooth transition from consultation to surgery.

You should know, however, that although the institute has multiple clinic locations, all surgical procedures are strictly limited to their Common and Resler branches.

Pros

  • Features an in-house integrated surgery center
  • Offers specialized blepharoplasty and MIGS
  • Treats corneal conditions with Epioxa Cross-Linking
  • Diverse team of optometrists and medical doctors

Cons

  • Surgeries restricted to specific branch locations

Customer Reviews:

Hours: Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Envision Optics, led by Dr. Marie Lulette Fermil, delivers personalized vision solutions by pairing comprehensive eye exams with a massive optical selection.

With their setup, picking out the perfect pair of glasses is much more enjoyable when you have a wide variety of stylish options at your fingertips.

You can even easily upgrade their eyewear with high-end designer frames and customized treatments like anti-reflective coatings.

They also maintain a highly accessible schedule for busy individuals, offering both walk-in availability and convenient Saturday operating hours.

It’s also great that the clinic regularly runs attractive promotions, making prescription sets much more affordable for families on a budget.

The only downside is that they provide co-management only for major refractive surgeries. For the actual operation, you’ll be referred to an entirely separate surgeon outside.

Pros

  • Flexible weekend scheduling on Saturdays
  • Extensive optical section with designer frames
  • High-value discounts on prescription eyeglasses

Cons

Five stars for the team at Envision Optics – East!

I always have an excellent experience here. Dr. Marie Fermil is absolutely awesome and provides top-tier care. A special shout-out to Sarahi as well, who is consistently professional and super helpful every time I visit.

“Very professional”

My experience was awesome. This was my first visit outside of military care. The staff was very professional and I was seen on time. The intake nurse was very thorough on my health history and made me feel at ease. The doctor and the nurse knew what my insurance covered, and what it did not. I specifically told the doctor what I needed and he obliged. I will definitely return next year.
