Pricing: We picked rental companies that show all costs upfront, so there are no surprise fees for things like mileage, insurance, or fuel.
Convenient Location: We looked for rental places that are easy to get to—whether you’re arriving at the airport or already in the city—so picking up and dropping off the car is simple.
Vehicle Selection: We chose companies that offer many types of cars, from small ones for city driving to bigger ones for families or road trips.
Insurance Options: We included services that let you choose the insurance you need and explain it clearly, so you don’t pay for more than you have to.
When my parents and extended family came to visit me in El Paso, I wanted everything to go smoothly—especially the airport pickup. But of course, I waited until the last minute to sort out transportation and ended up scrambling to find a rental car.
The only one available was way overpriced and had seen better days. It got us from point A to B, but not without a few groans (from both the car and my dad).
That experience taught me how important it is to plan ahead–finding the right rental can make a big difference! Here’s some of the best car rentals in El Paso before you book.

Enterprise might not be the cheapest car rental option in El Paso, but I felt like I got what I paid for. The process was smooth, the service was solid, and I appreciated being able to earn rewards points along the way.
That said, the pickup process at El Paso International Airport was one of the easiest I’ve had. The location was simple to find, and I was on the road in no time. The staff was not only friendly but went above and beyond to help others too!
I saw one employee personally drive a rental car up to a woman traveling with her elderly mother so she wouldn’t have to walk, and then drove them both to the terminal. That kind of thoughtful service doesn’t go unnoticed and it made a big impression even on me.
As for the car itself—it was exactly what I reserved, which isn’t always a given with rental companies. It was clean, in great condition, and ready to go. I also appreciated not being forced into a larger vehicle or something I wasn’t comfortable driving.
The only downside to my experience was the inconsistency in how insurance and roadside support were handled. Still, outside one hiccup, the service and rental itself were everything I needed.
Pros
- Quick, friendly service–even at odd hours
- Staff goes above and beyond (they can literally drive you to the terminal)
- Great selection of vehicles
- Clean, comfortable rides
- Reward points and discounts available
- Location at El Paso International Airport is great for travelers
Cons
- Insurance coverage can be better
- Roadside assistance has room for improvement
- Some vehicles need cleaning
- Occasional staff missteps
- Customer follow-up can take awhile sometimes
Great customer service
“Travel to El Paso to participate in the 2025 Bataan Memorial Death March. Rented a vehicle with Enterprise excellent service and simple process. My vehicle was ready. Customer service was great all round.”

Rental in pristine condition
“This was our first rental from Enterprise in quite awhile. The service was great… they actually had the car we had selected. ( I often find myself being forced into a large car that I simply can’t drive. ) The car was new in pristine condition.”

If you’re heading to El Paso and need a car to get around, El Paso Car Rental is a pretty solid choice. I rented a vehicle for 10 days, and overall, the whole thing went smoothly!
It was one of those rare times where a car rental didn’t feel like a hassle or a trap. From picking up the car to dropping it off, everything just… worked.
The truck they gave me was almost brand new. It ran like a dream, didn’t make weird noises, and didn’t smell like a drive-thru. It was clean, comfortable, and perfect for getting around town.
As far as pricing goes, I felt like I got a good deal. It wasn’t crazy expensive, and there weren’t any surprise fees. It was all pretty straightforward.
The location is easy to find, and they offer a free shuttle from the airport, which is super convenient. It’s a busy place, though, so definitely book ahead. They work on a first-come, first-served system, and the cars go fast.
Their insurance options were clear and simple. Nobody tried to sell me coverage for things I didn’t need. They just explained what they had and let me choose without any pressure and I appreciated that!
Pros
- Friendly, cheerful, helpful staff
- Clean and well-maintained vehicles
- Fair prices
- Quick, no fuss rental and return process
- Free shuttle from the airport
Cons
- Limited vehicle selection
- Advance reservation is a must

Rent-a-Car El Paso is one of those rental places that actually feels like it cares. If you’re looking for a smooth ride—literally and figuratively—this is a great place to start a West Texas adventure.
When it comes to pricing, this car rental offers a solid deal. You get exactly what you need without draining your budget. Just a heads up: the insurance can be quite expensive. If your credit card or your own insurance covers rentals, you can use that to save money.
The location of this place is one of its biggest perks–it’s basically right there at the airport. No awkward shuttle rides, no dragging your suitcases across parking lots. You just get off the plane and practically walk to the rental car.
And if you’re dropping off the rental after business hours, you just need to drop the keys in a designated box–it’s so easy!
Finally, the vehicle selection is great because there’s a decent amount of options. They’ve got hatchbacks or if you really want to feel like Texas, they’ve got pickups too! The cars are clean and well-maintained, so that’s always a plus!
Pros
- Super friendly responsive staff even at weird hours
- Smooth, fast check-in/check-out process
- Wide selection of clean and well-maintained vehicles
- Convenient airport access
- No pressure, just helpful service
Cons
- Rental insurance can be quite pricey
- You might get attached to the car and want to keep it forever
Top-notch customer service even during odd hours
“Our flight was delayed several times, and we didn’t arrive until 3:30 AM. Thankfully, the car rental representative waited for us! I was so grateful that I could have hugged him. Without his help, we likely would have had to spend the night at the airport since there were no rideshare services available at that hour. Truly thankful!”
Sara Shoff, Google Review

Renting a car usually isn’t the highlight of anyone’s trip. It can be slow, confusing, and full of surprise fees. But National Car Rental at the El Paso Airport makes the process simple, smooth, and surprisingly pleasant.
Car rentals these days aren’t cheap, and this spot is no exception. But their pricing seems fair, especially for the quality of service. You may see extra fees at checkout (like the “concession recovery fee”), but at least you’re not overpaying for a dirty car or bad service.
Getting to the rental location is also super easy. This branch is right at the airport, just a short walk from baggage claim. No shuttle rides or wandering around needed. You land, grab your bag, and head straight to the car.
Their selection of vehicles is pretty good, too! You can choose your own car from the lot. The cars are clean, fueled, and in good shape—no mystery stains or sketchy tires here.
Occasionally, a reserved vehicle might not be available, especially with SUVs, but the staff can help find a solid backup.
One thing I really appreciate is how they handle insurance. There’s no pressure or scare tactics. The staff explains the options clearly and respects your decisions. You don’t feel like you’re being sold something you don’t need.
Pros
- Super convenient location
- Friendly staff
- Clean, well-maintained vehicles
- Fast check-in and return process
Cons
- Cars may not be available even with reservation
- Newer vehicles can’t support old tech
- Staff experience may vary
Professional, prompt, and courteous staff
“National rental employees were very professional, prompt and courteous in dealing with me in all the aspects from rental reservation to pick up as well as drop off of the vehicle. I look forward to doing it all over again the very soonest I have another deployment or business appointment.”
Joey Nwachukwu, Google Review
Simple and efficient rental process
“I love the simplicity of reserving for a car and the efficiency in picking up and returning the vehicle! The staff is great! Thank you National.”

If you’re flying into El Paso and need a car, Avis Car Rental at the airport is a popular option. They have good cars, helpful staff, and one of the easiest pick-up spots in town.
One of the things I really appreciate about this place is that if you’re a Preferred member, you can pick up your car any time, even in the middle of the night.
The location is super convenient—right at the airport, so once you land, you don’t have to go far at all to get your car.
As far as price goes, this provider is usually pretty reasonable. We’ve shopped around, and their rates are often better than other places nearby, especially if you book ahead.
There are usually no surprise charges, everything was quick and easy, but there have been instances of incorrect billings, like getting charged for fuel even though the car was returned with the right amount of gas (it gets sorted, but the process of fixing billing is no fun).
This place also does well with its vehicle selection. They’ve got a good mix of cars, from hybrids to trucks. If you’re lucky, you may even score a nearly brand-new car with very low mileage! And if a car you like isn’t available, you might just get an upgrade!
Finally, insurance here is simple. They’ll offer it to you when you book or at the counter. If you know what you need, the process is smooth. Preferred members usually get faster service and more choices!
Pros
- Right at the airport (easy to find)
- Preferred members can pick up cars 24/7
- Staff is helpful
- Good selection of cars
- Fair prices and fast pick-up times (most of the time)
Cons
- Billing issues that need to get sorted
Got an upgrade
“The Avis in El Paso Texas was very fast and accommodating. They didn’t have the car we requested so we got upgraded to a really nice Ford Ranger 4×4. I was seriously contemplating buying one after driving it. Thank you Avis for an easy and pain free experience. Oh yeah we did a little off-roading.”
Bo Knows, Google Review
Always on point
“Avis is always on point when I come to car rentals. Never had any problems with it.”
