When the summer heat hits Sun City, there is only one place everyone wants to be: in the water. But while cooling off is easy, swimming confidently and safely is another story. Too many people equate “knowing how to swim” with simply staying afloat.
In reality, true water competency requires specific technical skills, such as the dolphin kick or rhythmic breathing.
Realizing this gap, we looked closely at local swim programs. Instead of just looking at location or price, we examined lesson structures, instructor qualifications, and how each lesson builds skills over time,
After hours of vetting the major swim schools in El Paso, we narrowed the list down to those that genuinely teach more than supervised splashing. These are the swimming lessons that equip students with skills they can rely on for life.
How much does it cost to take swimming lessons in El Paso?
It costs at least $50 to take swimming lessons in El Paso. This price is just an estimate. The actual price is dependent on the kind of swimming lesson, the instructor’s fees, and more.
1. US Army MWR Aquatics Training Center

Address: 20733 Constitution Ave
Contact Details: +1 915-741-5901
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 6 AM to 8 PM
- Saturday and Sunday – 9 AM to 6 PM
For those looking for swimming lessons in El Paso that are designed for the whole family, not just one age group, the US Army MWR Aquatics Training Center delivers exactly that. They have lessons for every age, from 6 months to active-duty adults.
We found their “Parent and Child” sessions thoughtfully scheduled. Having Saturday classes makes practical sense for families with demanding weekdays. This is a great way for toddlers to get used to water while their parents are right there to support them.
Pricing is very reasonable too. One military parent shared he paid $60 for eight sessions, which is such a bargain compared to other private swim schools in El Paso.
Active-duty members also get unlimited monthly lessons for just $30, which is an incredible perk for those looking to stay fit.
We also love that they separate beginner and advanced evening tracks. This removes the awkwardness many adults feel when starting lessons later in life.
The youth classes follow a consistent four- or eight-week schedule. This helps kids build muscle memory by getting in the water twice a week.
It’s just a bummer that they don’t take phone calls or online sign-ups. Students have to drive down to the facility on registration day.

2. Marty Robbins Aquatic Center

Address: 11600 Vista del Sol Dr
Contact Details: +1 915-212-0428
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday – 5 AM to 12 PM & 5:30 PM to 9 PM
- Friday – 5 AM to 12 PM
- Saturday – 6 AM to 12 PM
Marty Robbins Aquatic Center stands out for using the Red Cross “Learn to Swim” curriculum. We love this method because the levels are standardized, meaning a Level 1 here is the same as a Level 1 anywhere else in the country.
They offer a wide range of kids’ swimming lessons, covering ages from 6 months to 15+. This makes Marty Robbins a reliable option for long-term progression.
The Preschool Level 1 focuses heavily on building water confidence for 4- and 5-year-olds. Levels progress up to Level 6, where students eventually work on advanced stroke proficiency and endurance.
Many students also seemed to love the Adult Conditioning classes. Those we spoke with shared that these sessions provide a legitimate workout while also reinforcing technique.
That said, the environment can get noisy during class transitions since they use a public facility. Those seeking quieter atmosphere might have to look elsewhere.

Some swimmers thrive in group settings. Others improve fastest with undivided attention. El Paso Private Swim Lessons is built firmly for the latter.
The instructor, Mae, is honestly impressive. She’s a former NCAA Division I athlete from Pepperdine University. Her experience as a triathlete means she understands race pacing, stroke efficiency, and endurance training from firsthand experience.
Mae’s background and the specialized coaching for triathletes make El Paso Private Swim Lessons a solid pick for anyone looking to get faster for competitions.
Beyond competitive coaching, we love that Mae is also open to teaching younger kids. We love her focus on survival swimming and essential skills like holding your breath and exiting the water safely.
Parents frequently observe that children remain focused and engaged during lessons. The structured yet disciplined approach seems to help students stay attentive to specific learning objectives.
Whether it’s a 3-year-old learning to float or an adult looking to hone their backstroke, the lessons are tailored to each person’s comfort level.
The only downside is that private lessons come with a higher price tag than city-run lessons.
I see her improving not only in the water
“My daughter is 5 years old the age where she wants to explore and show off her findings. She also has a disability that I was really happy when I found a private swim teacher. I love Ms. Mae because she is really patient with her. In the first 3 weeks of being with Ms. Mae she learned to float and is in the process of learning to swim to the wall. I see her improving not only in the water but it’s also helping her in her daily life with her balance because like I mentioned she has a disability. She will definitely be returning Ms. Mae next summer.”

She is extremely patient with him and his needs
“Mae is an amazing swim Instructor. My two children (9 and 7) felt comfortable with her right away. My son has autism and she is extremely patient with him and his needs. My daughter who used to fear being in the water without a vest, can now swim underwater with no problems. They both look forward to their lessons with her. I totally recommend her!”

4. Aquatic Adventures LLC

Address: 9900 Edgemere Blvd
Contact Details: +1 915-694-4430
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Friday – 10 AM to 5 PM
Aquatic Adventures LLC bridges the gap between basic swim classes El Paso families need and the world of professional scuba diving, and that’s exactly what earned them a spot on our list.
We found it fascinating that a student could start here as a complete beginner and eventually take professional-level diving courses.
The staff here clearly knows their way around the water, and we like that they offer both group and private sessions to fit different learning styles.
A student we spoke with mentioned that he loved the five-lesson private packages because they gave him enough time to get comfortable without a long-term commitment.
The instructors are great communicators too. Students we interviewed appreciated the clear instructions, awesome swimming demos, and appointment updates.
The instructors are also patient and used to dealing with any technical gear required for their more advanced courses.
One thing to note is that because their primary focus is on diving, they might not have as many youth-specific time slots as a dedicated kids’ swim school.
Drastically improve his swimming technique
“The owner Michael Robison taught my son to drastically improve his swimming technique to be efficient and save energy. My son competes in biathlons and triathlons and this helped his placing immensely to where he consistently places in the top 5. You would not know that Mike is a battle-tested Green Beret veteran with how great he interacts with kids and customers. Learn from one of America’s best and finest and go see Mike at Aquatic Adventures!”

5. SISD Aquatics Center

Address: 1257 Southview Dr
Contact Details: +1 915-937-0544
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday – 8:30 AM to 6:45 PM
- Friday – 8:30 AM to 3 PM
We love SISD Aquatics Center’s focus on progression. A child must master the basics of body positioning before transitioning to complex strokes such as breaststroke and butterfly.
We love this because it allows students time to build a solid foundation. Many parents observe that children move confidently from beginner breathing drills to more advanced skills such as competitive dives.
The instructors here focus on making every lesson count, especially for students ages 4 to 12. They do this by teaching their students breathing techniques, proper form, and more.
We also think it’s great that only students and instructors are allowed in the pool area, so people don’t get distracted by others watching from the sidelines.
Plus, it’s smart that they limit the tiny 4-year-olds to groups of six so the coach can keep a close watch on their floating.
That said, they require a mandatory pre-registration evaluation. It might feel a bit rigid, but it ensures every kid in the class is actually at the same skill level.
Also, they are very firm on no refunds and no changes. This means if students miss a class, they won’t get a make-up session.
My kids love this place
“My kids love this place! I enjoy it too! The entrance fee is cheap! You are allowed to take in snacks and drinks.
They offer swimming lessons. They have a party room which you can reserve for your event.”
