From birth to age five, a child’s brain forms over one million new neural connections every second. This brief period shapes the brain architecture a child carries into school, adolescence, and adulthood.
The experiences children have during these early years, from language exposure to social interaction and cognitive stimulation, can have a lasting impact.
That’s why choosing a preschool is more important than many parents realize.
To help, we visited programs, spoke with other parents, and reviewed curricula to bring you a curated list of the best early childhood education options in El Paso. See who made the cut below!
How much does it cost to send your kid to preschool in El Paso?
Most public preschools in El Paso are free, but if it’s a private preschool, it can cost at least $150 a week. This price is an estimate. The actual cost will depend ultimately on the preschool you choose.
1. Montessori Learning Center

Address: 244 N Resler Dr
Contact Details: +19155874652
Operating Hours:
Montessori Learning Center stood out for its flexibility. With three language options (a dual-language program, a monolingual English program, and a monolingual Spanish program), parents can choose a program that best meets their child’s needs.
We also value their approach, which is built around child-led exploration. This means hands-on engagement with materials and allowing children to move at their own pace, without rushing their learning.
The school organizes students into age-based communities. In the Children’s House programs for ages three to six, the classroom is divided into distinct areas: sensorial, language, mathematics, art, and more.
Parents we spoke with said this structure helped their children develop confidence as they explored various subjects.
We also like that private campus tours are available. This lets parents see the school in action before deciding if it’s the right preschool for their child.
That said, the Montessori method can require an adjustment for families expecting a traditional, teacher-led classroom. One mother noted that in the early weeks, it was hard to see exactly what her child was learning and why.
I truly cannot express how grateful I am for this school
“My son has been attending Montessori Learning Center since he was 8 months old, and I truly cannot express how grateful I am for this school. From the very beginning, the teachers have treated him with so much love, patience, and respect. They see him as a whole person — capable, curious, and independent — and that has made all the difference in his development.
Over the years, we’ve watched him grow into a confident, thoughtful, and kind little boy. He surprises us every day with the things he knows — from practical life skills, to emotional awareness, to the way he interacts with others. The Montessori approach has helped him learn at his own pace and follow his interests, which has made learning feel joyful and natural for him.
The communication with the staff has always been open and supportive. I always feel that they truly know my child — not just his needs, but his personality, his strengths, and the ways he learns best. There is a genuine sense of community here that feels rare and special.
I will forever be thankful that this was the environment where he took his first steps, spoke his first words, learned how to socialize, problem-solve, and express himself. Montessori Learning Center has been a foundational part of his life, and of ours. I highly recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing and meaningful early learning experience.”

We’re so grateful to be part of such a nurturing and inspiring learning community
“This is our second year at Montessori Learning Center, and I couldn’t be happier with our experience. I chose this school because of its immersive Spanish program, and it has truly exceeded my expectations. My 6-year-old has embraced the Spanish language and now speaks it with pride and confidence. The guides are incredibly dedicated to the Montessori method—patient, kind, and intentional in how they guide each child’s growth and independence. We’re so grateful to be part of such a nurturing and inspiring learning community.”

2. Westside KinderCare

Address: 6923 Enid Ct
Contact Details: +19155815628
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 6 AM to 6:30 PM
Westside KinderCare organizes each classroom to match the developmental needs of its age group, and most parents we spoke with notice the intentionality behind this setup.
The Discovery Preschool program for two-to three-year-olds combines group dynamics with individual exploration. Books, toys, and displayed artwork create an environment where kids get comfortable with structure while engaging in play-based learning.
By the Preschool program for three to four-year-olds, the focus shifts to expression and creative ownership. We appreciate that they introduce basic science experiments and use pretend play to help build the skills children will need when kindergarten begins.
One parent told us that daily updates from teachers made the transition much smoother than she had expected. Knowing exactly what her child did each day made drop-off and pick-up feel easier.
Because KinderCare is a national chain, its curriculum and philosophy are consistent across locations. That said, each center’s personality and effectiveness depend heavily on its specific teachers.
Some parents we spoke with mentioned that teachers could be more effective in supporting children with learning disabilities.
We have been very satisfied with the way they instruct
“Our Experience at Kinder Care
Transition to Kinder Care
We made the decision to move our son from another daycare to Kinder Care, seeking a nurturing and supportive environment for his growth and development.
Satisfaction with Instruction and Care
During our time with the Kinder Care team, we have been very satisfied with the way they instruct and care for our son. Their approach to education and their attention to his well-being give us confidence that he is in good hands.
Openness and Accessibility
We greatly appreciate the openness and accessibility of the teachers and aids. Their willingness to communicate and be available for our questions has made us feel welcomed and involved in our son’s experience.
Parental Happiness and Communication
As very happy parents, we especially enjoy receiving daily pictures and detailed reports about our son’s day. These updates allow us to stay connected to his activities and progress, bringing us joy and peace of mind.”

3. Peace Lutheran Preschool & Daycare

Address: 595 Belvidere St
Contact Details: +19155815525
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM
Peace Lutheran keeps class sizes small, and the parents we’ve interviewed love this.
Smaller classes allow teachers to quickly get to know each child’s preferences, sensitivities, and developmental progress right away.
Teachers here are also very hands-on with activities. Whether they’re reading with students or using outdoor play to teach children about the world around them, they keep lessons engaging and interactive.
One of the things parents appreciate most about Peace Lutheran is the support with potty training. Families value having a helping hand during this important stage.
Peace Lutheran is also among the more affordable preschools in El Paso. The school coordinates directly with Polk, Tippin, and Lundy Elementary Schools. They provide transportation, before- and after-school care, and summer programs.
This makes it easier for families whose children will later transition to these elementary schools. However, for families outside these school zones, this smooth transition and coordinated care may not apply.
I love this school
“I have been involved with Peace in several different ways, currently I am a parent, and I love this school. I was uncertain about the change in administration, however, I am very impressed and happy. Class sizes are now completely within ratio (actually better); weekly newsletters are informative, organized, and to the point; the building and classrooms are CLEAN; the office staff is friendly and takes the time to answer questions and listen to concerns; Pastor is friendly; I can see exactly where my money is going…through the high quality of care, and educational experiences facilitated. I’ve also noticed that children are engaged, and staff is motivated. Anyone who was unhappy before should revisit and see the changes for themselves.”

This place is great!
“I cannot say enough good things about this place. I trusted them with my child, my heart & soul, and they did good. For about 2 years, they took great care of him. We did their pre-school/daycare program as well as their full-on pre-k program. Ms. Karen & Ms. Aisha took care of him during pre-school. Ms. Ana & Ms. Shante took care of him during pre-k. All of them were sweet and kind… They’ve got routines & activities, Christmas concerts, etc. The staff is great as well. Mr. Ernesto, the man running everything from the front desk, was always quick to help out & answer questions. They have the sweetest volunteers making share the kids are safe from the parking lot to the entrance. This place is great! I’ll probably bring back my kid for their summer programs as well. Highly recommended!”

4. The J Center for Early Learning

Address: 4408 N Stanton St
Contact Details: +19155341234
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 7 AM to 5:30 PM
The J Center for Early Learning has Jewish roots, and they bring their values of community, respect, and tolerance inside the classroom. They provide an early childhood education in El Paso that goes beyond the standard curriculum.
Parents notice the school’s distinctive culture from their first visit. One mom told us she values how their teachers teach students the importance of showing respect to each other in the small things, like respecting a child’s desk space.
Regarding their curriculum, we like that their program offers daily Spanish instruction at every grade level, rather than a once-a-week language class.
The Pre-K program for four-year-olds prepares children for kindergarten through a balanced mix of developmental activities and academic work in reading, writing, math, and science.
That early exposure to math can really set them up for success, whether a child continues to thrive independently or gets extra support from a math tutor in El Paso.
We also appreciate that teachers share lesson plans and use open-ended problems and “what if” scenarios to engage students.
However, parents have complained about difficulties booking class tours to get a feel for the environment. A father told us the schedules usually aren’t as flexible as others.
Beautiful school
“Beautiful school. Staff and teachers a simply amazing and 100% dedicated to the children. I would pick this school over and over again.”

They invest so much time and energy
“My son has been at the J center for half a year now and only have positive and amazing things to say about our experience. The office/administrative staff is incredible and involved. They make every experience feel like you’re talking to family. The teachers are so incredible. They invest so much time and energy into each individual child and focus so much on developing every aspect of them. I’m amazed every day by the creative and detail oriented projects they work on. The staff is great at keeping parents posted about activities that are done each day and how your child did. I also have my son in morning and after school care and again, I am happy with what my son does there and how well he is taken care of. I am so grateful for the staff at the J and forever happy that we moved my son to this school.”

5. STEAM Preschool & Kindergarten

Address: 1724 Weston Brent Ln suite b
Contact Details: +1 915-224-0247
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 2:30 PM
STEAM Preschool is one of the most recommended preschools in El Paso by local parents. It’s ideal for those whose goal is genuine academic and developmental preparation for kindergarten.
The program serves children ages two to five, and their small classes make real one-on-one attention possible.
We love that their individualized curriculum means teachers are not delivering the same program to every child in the room. Rather, they track each child’s actual developmental progress and adjust accordingly.
A child who needs more language support gets it. A child who is cognitively ahead is not left waiting in the group.
That kind of individual responsiveness is genuinely difficult to deliver well, and STEAM has built its model around making it the standard rather than the exception.
The curriculum also covers social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. Daily activities include story time, songs, hands-on work, and more.
That said, no infant or toddler care is available. Families wanting one continuous program from birth through preschool will need a different solution for the earlier years.
He was excited every day to go
“This Program is absolutely a must for those that want to foster a strong foundation for their children to grow their minds. My son attended Preschool and Kinder Co-op and I can’t say enough about how impactful the staff and teachers were for my son. He was excited everyday to go and showed what he was learning from school on a constant basis. I would certainly do it all over again and I certainly recommend it! Special Thanks to Ms Becky, Ms Angela and Ms Rita!”
