The 5 Best Financial Advisors in El Paso to Organize Your Finances

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Prices: If a firm tried to sneak charges into the fine print, I moved on. I wanted advisors who were clear about their rates and fees.

Investment Strategies: I focused on how each advisor explained their investment approach. The ones who explained without sounding like they were reading from a script really caught my attention.

Responsiveness: The advisors who made my shortlist were the ones who replied quickly—sometimes within a few hours, but never more than three business days.

Reviews: I chatted with a few of their long-time clients to see how these advisors handled rough patches in the market and curveballs that came their way.

A few months back, I gave an online financial advisor a shot. By the end of it, I was ready to hurl my finance book at the wall.

The advice felt canned, and every meeting ended with a pitch for some complicated product I didn’t need. It was less about my goals and more about their commission.

And I know I’m not the only one who’s had issues with financial advisory. So I took matters into my own hands and went on a mission to find financial advisors in El Paso who can actually help us build wealth.

Here are the ones that stood out after extensive research and interviews!

How much does it cost to work with a financial advisor in El Paso?

It costs at least 0.5% of assets annually to work with a financial advisor in El Paso. Some advisors may charge a flat fee of at least $1,000, or an hourly rate starting at $150.

These figures are just estimates. The actual price will depend on the financial advisor’s fee structure.

Sheid Wealth Management caught my attention with their truly personal, one-on-one approach. Right from the start, their advisors actually make time for several in-depth meetings.

I like how they don’t hand out the same plan to everyone. Everything centers on their clients’ goals.

The big plus is that the plan can change as needs do, and the support doesn’t just stop after the first meeting.

One woman told me she walked in with a pile of retirement accounts and left with a clear, simple investment plan that finally fit her timeline and comfort level.

Sheid also works with LPL Financial. This gives their clients access to a range of investment options, including Roth IRAs, ETFs, and 529s.

I like that they don’t box people into a small set of choices, which ultimately helps grow wealth more efficiently.

The only real downside? Scheduling can be tricky. A few of their clients mentioned that it can sometimes take up to 2 weeks to get an appointment.

Pros

  • One-on-one approach
  • Several in-depth meetings
  • Tailored financial plans
  • Works with LPL Financial
  • Range of investment options
  • Flexible plans

Cons

  • Up to 2 weeks to schedule sometimes

Excellent job helping me navigate my changing financial needs

“I’ve been working with Eric Villalobos for several years now. I was one of his clients at his previous institution and decided to stay with him when he moved to Sheid. He’s done an excellent job helping me navigate my changing financial needs, including moving across the country and being temporarily unemployed. Even though I’m no longer local after moving to the Midwest, he still checks in with me frequently to make sure my needs are met. On top of being a great financial advisor, he’s also just a great guy. Very personable and genuinely cares about his clients. I definitely recommend his services.”

One of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made

“Working with Eric has been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made for my financial well-being. From day one, he brought not just deep expertise, but also a level of care and clarity that made financial planning feel approachable—even for someone without a strong background in it.

He breaks down complex concepts into clear, actionable steps, always tailored to my goals. Thoughtful, responsive, and solutions-focused, Eric brings a calm confidence to every conversation. Most importantly, he operates with integrity and a genuine commitment to what’s best for his clients. I trust him completely and recommend him without hesitation.”

Cortez Wealth Management is a one-stop firm for just about every financial need.

They don’t just stick to investment management and retirement planning. They also handle tax prep, business succession, and even the nitty-gritty of education and estate planning.

They walk people through their options, so they understand what’s happening with their money and can make smarter choices to grow their savings.

One business owner told me she’d always been overwhelmed by succession planning. After working with Cortez, she finally understood her options and set up a transition plan that gave her peace of mind.

When it comes to private wealth management, they don’t just talk in circles. They actually help their clients put together detailed, written plans.

Their investment advice is just as hands-on. I appreciate that they don’t just toss around numbers about returns. They actually break down the risks and walk people through choices like 401(k)s, stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.

The only snag is that when it comes to risk management (like sorting out life insurance or disability), the paperwork can drag on. One of their clients mentioned it took almost two weeks to finalize everything.

Pros

  • Expertise in investment management
  • Handles retirement, education, and estate planning
  • Handles tax prep
  • Expertise in business succession
  • Practical investment advice

Cons

  • Risk management paperwork can take a while

Extremely professional

“Cortez Wealth Management (Gilbert) is extremely professional, detail-oriented, and genuinely cares about their clients. One of his clients appreciated how Jesus mapped out a new plan when he faced job issues. This allowed him to keep up with bills and still stay on track for retirement.

I also like that Jesus doesn’t just tell people to invest in stocks or bonds. He actually explains the difference between them.

One couple told me he walked them through how bonds can help smooth out the ups and downs of the stock market, and why that matters for their long-term goals. He makes it easy for people to understand what’s really happening with their money.

The only downside? Some of his clients wish he had called back more quickly. One person told me it took about two days to hear back. When he did call, though, he took the time to answer every question about retirement planning.

Pros

  • Sets clear, realistic goals
  • Excellent debt management advice
  • Flexible financial plans
  • Helps people understand stocks and bonds
  • Patiently answers questions

Cons

  • Slower callback time

He is proactive

“I never write reviews but Mr Horton has been the best financial advisor with whom I have worked — and I worked with many. What sets him apart from all the others is that he is proactive: He actually takes time out from his day to inform you about prospective decisions to grow your account.  Other advisors do not do this. On top of this, he is a fiduciary, he is taking this extra time w his clients out of a passion for his work. not for personal gain. Highly recommended”

Jordan Nelson at First Command Financial stands out for his work with military and veteran families. What I noticed right away is how Jordan and his team actually get the unpredictable parts of military life.

One young couple, who had moved from base to base and never managed to save, were finally able to set up a savings plan that survived another move after meeting Jordan.

It’s also impressive how Jordan can accommodate various needs. He helps people with everything, from starting college funds to sorting out insurance and retirement income.

One of his clients told me that Jordan helped him roll over a jumble of old accounts into a single, easy-to-track portfolio.

Another said he walked him through the maze of military retirement options, so she finally felt confident about his future.

On the flip side, those who aren’t part of the military community might feel like some of the financial advice and focus here doesn’t fit their lives.

Pros

  • For military and veterans
  • Easily sets up savings plans
  • Helps with college funds
  • Offers insurance financing assistance
  • Handles retirement income planning

Cons

  • Not the best advice for non-military personnel

Extremely knowledgeable

“Jordan is extremely knowledgeable and professional! He has helped me tremendously during the last two years! I’m more familiar with my investments and feel comfortable discussing my portfolio with him! I plan on keeping him as my advisor for a long time!”

Lauterbach Financial Advisors made the list for its fee-only, fiduciary model and holistic, tax-savvy approach.

Their holistic goal-oriented financial planning helps people understand all the components of their financial health.

I like that they don’t just look at investments in isolation. They consider taxes, insurance, retirement, and even foundation management for nonprofits.

One client said Lauterbach helped her family restructure their retirement plan to minimize tax hits, something her previous advisor never mentioned.

They’re also not afraid to have tough conversations about risk. They stay on top of industry changes, which makes a big difference when regulations shift.

One guy told me he appreciated that his advisors proactively reached out when changes in tax law or market conditions could affect his plans.

The downside? Their onboarding process is a little paperwork-heavy. So, those hoping to get started in a single quick meeting might find the initial process a bit daunting.

Pros

  • Fee-only model
  • Tax-savvy approach
  • Holistic financial planning
  • Stays on top of financial risks
  • Proactive advisors

Cons

  • Onboarding process is a bit paperwork-heavy
