Before my first experience with escape rooms, I honestly thought that was just another trend or just a scavenger hunt with a story or theme to follow.
Then ,our friend invited us to celebrate her birthday in one of El Paso’s escape rooms, and my perception changed. We could really tell that we were in our most competitive state; everyone in the group were completely on their toes!
Now, I’m always searching for new escape rooms to try. So if you want to get on a more immersive adventure, or just want to ditch your consoles for a while, make sure to read this list we’ve made for you.

Operating Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 10:30 AM – 10:00 PM; Friday- Saturday: 9:30 AM – 11:30 PM
The Red Door Escape Room in El Paso has different types of escape rooms with various difficulty levels. We’d been hearing about it for a while, but we didn’t realize how immersive it was until we got there.
There are a total of nine escape rooms, which they call episodes. If you don’t want to spend an entire hour solving mysteries, then opt for the quick play, which only requires thirty minutes of your time (or even less for those with detective blood).
Otherwise, you can go for the full length. We suggest going for the hour long play so that you can maximize the space, and have more time solving clues.
If your group has less than 4 players, you can choose the Last Stop. This one is perfect if you would love to solve crime or murder mystery—full on Law and Order mode!
The rest of the escape rooms are great for groups with 8 members at most. If you want a heist type of escape room, you can go for The Gift, where you need to retrieve a sword without leaving any trace (and without getting caught too!).
But don’t worry, if you and your significant other suddenly decides to go on a little date, you can definitely choose to play in any of their escape rooms.
Our most favorite was Taken, an action and thriller type of escape room. Here, our group got to split up in twos as we searched for clues in solving the sudden disappearances in Hotel Peregrine.
This escape room is also the one with the most difficulty, so we really had a challenging night when we played this. Just be ready to use up your brain cells here!
It’s great that the staff here at the Red Door Escape Room is accommodating enough to adjust the schedule when we arrive late. They even gave us ten minutes past the hour to continue solving the mysteries.
Pro tip:
While it’s great to be competitive, it would still be better if you choose an escape room with the easiest difficulty. This prevents your group from asking too many hints from the staff, allowing you to ease into the more difficult levels on your next try.
2. Operation Outbreak: El Paso Escape Game

For darker themes, we recommend that you try the escape rooms here at Operation Outbreak. There are a total of seven rooms, each with different difficulties and stories.
There’s a room where you can meet a weeping woman trapped in an abandoned hacienda, a room that will transport you to the oldest asylum in town, or a room where you need to escape El Paso’s serial killer.
These rooms are the most difficult ones, so make sure to brainstorm with your group on how you would wish to navigate within the clues. Remember, you only have a total of sixty minutes to escape the room.
Some rooms offer mystery and adventure. For those who love aliens, you can choose to play in Area 915 or survive the cartel’s captivity as undercover DEA agents.
Don’t worry, hints and clues will be flashed on the screen, giving you a little bit of guide throughout the play.
We were only four in the group, and we felt like we hit the sweetest spot. We feel like there were enough people to divide the tasks into, which also allowed us to communicate well during the activity.
Pro tip:
Make sure to focus on the introductory video as there were a few helpful tips given away during this time.

Here, you can find hidden treasures, have a spooky castle adventure with Scooby Doo, visit the North Pole to save Santa Claus, or even be transported to Gotham City as you try to be their hero for a day (or an hour, at least!).
No matter which room you choose, we’re quite sure that you’ll be on your toes as you navigate these engaging and well-designed rooms. The best part is, you can take your kids with you as you help them learn to solve clues on their own.
During our stay, we decided to solve the Lost City room, where we got to search for the lost journal of Archibald Tucker just to find his legendary treasures. It’s a good mix of logic and excellent observation, making it more interesting.
While moving around the room, we also noticed how clean and dust-free the place was, which adds to the overall positive experience.
It’s actually a great place to host team building and even birthday parties. For birthday parties, you’re given an hour to party and an hour to play your chosen escape room.
The guys at Escapology Escape would even take care of the invitations, tables, chairs, and some party needs that you need. You’re also allowed to bring outside food or even a catering setup for your guests.
Pro tips:
- If you feel a bit stuck for quite some time, don’t hesitate to ask your designated Game Master for as many hints as you need.
- Assign someone to monitor the clock so you’re mindful of the time that you spend solving each clue.

Whether you’re coming as a pair or a group of up to six people, you’ll be able to find clues as you navigate through the storyline.
For those who love zombie-related movies and activities, make sure to try the Project X escape room. Set in the 1990s, you’ll find yourself in an abandoned lab, trying to create a medicine for the infected—including you!
Meanwhile, if you’re curious about vampires, you can choose to solve mysteries in Dracula. Don’t miss out on handy clues spread throughout the area as you try searching for Dracula just before the sun sets.
We decided to try this one as we’ve heard from the other group that the storyline was quite engaging. True enough, we felt like we were true vampire hunters—the ambiance inside the escape room even made it seem like a real castle.
Should you decide to try this escape room, make sure to keep a good communication among your group as the puzzles were really quite challenging. You also need to read the clues twice (or even thrice) just to make sure you understood them correctly.
And if you’re bringing kids with you, we highly recommend that you try Operation Save Christmas. Aside from having the least dark theme at Twisted Time Escape Rooms, it’s a great way to get your kids in the holiday spirit.
The most exciting part is that you and your kids can even wear holiday-related outfits and play with the props too!
Pro tip:
The Dracula escape room could be a little scary for the little kids, so we recommend skipping this one instead (unless they’re big fans of mystery and horror films at a young age!).

Your escape room journey in El Paso won’t be complete without trying the Hotel Delirium Escape Game. compared to the other escape rooms that heavily focus on mystery and thriller, the escape rooms here would give you a series-based adventure.
These escape rooms (or chapters) have a sequential order, which means all rooms have stories that are interconnected.
The first escape room will transform you back to the 1970s as you find evidence that might be linked to a series of explosions that happened around the world during that time.
There’s also a time machine involved here, so it’s pretty interesting that you get to explore this in this chapter too. What’s great about them is that they really used vintage props, which totally helped in setting the overall mood.
The next chapter will let you discover more about the sketchy government agency. This also determines your fate if you can go back to the present, or be completely trapped in the past.
If you’re booking for an escape room online, you can only book up to six players if you’re booking through their website. Should you wish to add more players, just coordinate with their staff first so you can check if the room can accommodate you.
Mention about merch Don’t miss out on their merchandise too so you can remember your experience on that day. We got some t-shirts, pins, and printouts before heading out.
Pro tip:
Make sure to allot fifteen minutes before your escape room schedule for debriefing. You will also spend an additional fifteen minutes after the escape room adventure to accommodate questions and take photos.
