Full disclosure: I’ve always had two left feet when it comes to dancing. Back in school, I was the type to try and spin in the other direction when being twirled during ballroom dance, so you can imagine how much of a nightmare I was to my professors!
Luckily, I haven’t had to think about ballroom dance in so long…until a few friends invited my husband and I to a swing night. It was way more fun than I expected, especially since we got instructors present to help us figure the timing out.
Now with our little one starting to show interest in dancing and singing, I couldn’t help but think of that swing night. Turns out there’s more dance studios in El Paso than we thought, so we’ve picked out our favorites right here for those looking to stay on beat!
How much does it cost to learn at a dance studio in El Paso?
Getting dance lessons at a dance studio in El Paso can cost you anywhere from $30 to $225 a month, depending on the number of lessons included, the age of the learner and how long lessons go on for.

Ballroom dance is one of the most widely known forms of dances, so was it a surprise there was a studio wholly dedicated to it right here in El Paso? The aptly named El Paso Ballroom Dance Academy was a favorite among locals, so we just had to see what’s up!
The first thing we immediately noticed was the range of lessons. Ballroom dance comes in many forms like the classic waltz, swing, tango, cha-cha, rumba and more, all with distinct styles. We were pleased to see just how many the academy taught!
In addition to that, we appreciated the availability of drop-in classes. We found these especially handy for would-be learners who aren’t sure whether the style at the academy suits them yet.
That said, a few learners we got to chat with on our visit still recommended calling ahead to check the academy’s schedule. Some mentioned having trouble identifying which lessons were scheduled on what days.
Lastly, we also noticed that the academy held regular dance events to really put into practice what you’ve learned. If you’re looking to get their vibe, we’d recommend attending one of these or dropping in for a class if you can.
Gave me three new moves to add
“Stopped in for an Argentine tango class and then a salsa class. This place is fantastic! The level 2 salsa class I did was fast paced but focused on partner work and gave me three new moves to add to my library for when I go back home!”
– Mr. Mark Nessler, Google Review
Helped us get comfortable dancing together
“My boyfriend and I took an introductory 2 step class and it was incredible! We started from zero background and she helped us get comfortable dancing together! Great facility and great ownership.”

You can be a dancer at just about any age, but having an early start can help! Of the many dance studios there is in El Paso, LAT Studio was quite the favorite among families with kiddos who shone best on the dance floor.
Right off the bat, we were pleased to walk right into a pretty welcoming space! The studio was clean and well-maintained, and the learners we got to glimpse during their lessons seemed very engaged in their practice.
A particular highlight among parents we spoke to at the studio was their schedule and lessons. Providing dance instruction from jazz to hip-hop to ballet, many of their lessons were scheduled after school hours, making attending easier for students.
On top of that, we also couldn’t help but notice the price point of their lessons as well. We found these pretty reasonable, especially for the length of the lessons and the variety of genres they teach.
That being said, a few learners we chatted with mentioned their lesson plans lacking some outlines, focusing more on existing choreography over techniques. Those looking to pick up on techniques may want to check out other lessons or studios just in case.
The instructors are great with kids

Forever grateful for all the love and support

Apart from looking cool, dance can also be a great way to get fit: and one favorite spot to do that for locals was at Premier Studios. This studio got popular for its tumbling and parkour programs, but their dance lessons were catching on quickly!
Intrigued, we decided to swing by and were very pleased at how easy the studio was to find. We didn’t have to ask for directions at all, and there was pretty ample parking available on-site to make transport easy.
The studio itself was home to quite a few dance programs including jazz, ballet and even lyrical dance. These reportedly came at different skill levels, helping students get started at the level most comfortable to them.
On our visit, we got to chat with a few students who we asked about the quality of their lessons. Many were happy to let us know that the teachers did their best to pay equal attention to each student, especially during group lessons.
On that note, some students did mention that the studio had pretty strict timetables, making it hard to reschedule classes. We’d definitely recommend asking ahead of time what their policies are for these before signing up.
Amazing in helping the kids grow into their skill
“Coach Chris has been amazing in helping the kids grow into their skill. After doing 2 of the week long summer camps we decided to enroll for tumbling along with the parkour since my son learned so much!”

As with any physical pursuit, dance can be daunting to get into, especially with an audience. Keeping that in mind, we asked locals for their favorite spots to get private dance lessons, and we were happily pointed to the Roots Dance Center!
The center stuck out to us for their offer of personalized private lessons, making it handy for customers looking to get more personal training. These lessons spanned various genres, from ballet to tumble and even contemporary dance.
Of course, the best way to show off your new skills is at events, and the center was home to quite a few of these as well. Learners we got to chat with mentioned them hosting annual recitals to show off the fruits of their labor.
That being said, one hiccup a few learners ran into was that the notice period for classes getting cancelled or delayed was quite short, making scheduling and attending classes a bit tricky.
Still, we did note that the center also offered free trial lessons for prospective learners. If you’re looking for a center to get a starting grip on dance at, we’d definitely recommend going for at least one to see if their lessons suit you.
Teachers and students are so welcoming

One place that you might tend to see dance competitions occur in is school, such as cheer dances and even breakdancing. So honestly, it was no surprise that it was students who happily put the Jazz 2000 Dance Studio on our radar!
First off, we were pleased with how quickly the team answered us after we reached out to ask about their lessons. This was a sentiment backed up by students, who let us know that they were just as proactive when explaining their schedule too.
The studio itself offered lessons across various dance genres, but their lessons for school teams caught our eye. In particular, their choreography services for school teams during competitions was a favorite!
Speaking of competitions, the studio also held their own. According to some learners we got to chat with, these could take place on national and international stages, providing a space for their students to show off their moves and get valuable feedback.
If you’re planning on heading in for a drop-in class or even a private one, don’t make the mistake we did and ask for directions beforehand! We had some trouble finding the location and had to park quite a ways off.
